Special edition and workshop at Hochdruckpartner Galerie
Hochdruckpartner is more than an art gallery, is a workshop focused on relief printmaking located in the former industrial area of Lindenau. The four members of the team, Gabriele Sperlich, Susann Hoch, Stephanie Marx and Harald Alff print their own artworks in the historical vertical presses and organize events promoting this technique, that is deeply related with the city as an important editorial center in the XIX and XX centuries.
They offer a special edition every month titled “Grafik des Monats” and I am pleased to present during the exhibition the metal engraving “Gear” printed in white ink on Arches Velan cotton paper. With the valuable technical support of Gabriele Sperlich I have printed the magnesium plate on a “Karl Krause” vertical press, constructed in Leipzig around 1857 (Kniehebelpresse).
